All About Me

Making the Piano Sing

A music student in the 70's, I dropped out to become a semi-professional pianist / keyboardist in rock and jazz bands, and soloist in lounge bars and restaurants in the UK. During this musical apprenticeship, I developed my compulsive composing talents. 

Later, I dropped back in to academia, graduating in theology and philosophy whilst studying piano under Ray Banning, Professor of Piano at Trinity College, London, and accalaimed concert pianist. 

This was a kind of rennaissance for me, as from Ray Banning I learned how to make the piano sing, and to enter into the heart and spirit of the composer.

Since then I have been teaching philosophy, theology and music concurrently in schools and colleges for about 40 years, always striving to convey what I learned at this pivotal time in my musical and spiritual development.
